Miniature Booty Swap
Round 3
Happy New Year!!!
Let’s start getting our creative juices flowing with a challenge. I would like to challenge everyone in this round of the Booty Swap and start using themes to help everyone focus on creativity in their projects.
I have learned many lessons hosting these swaps over the past 7 months, so PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY this post before making your commitment to participate.
STOP READING HERE IF:
- if you have never participated before in one of these online swaps: Another Little Quilt Swap, 4 Seasons Swap, or The Booty Swap
- if you have (within the past year) fail to follow through on a swap if you have been repetitively late on sending your packages out
- if you have do not own a blog or have not kept it active (active means 3-5 posts a month)
If you can answered yes to any of those bullets, I will not allow you to participate in my swap. I’m sorry, I can not take any newbies or swappers without good standings from other hostesses.
Now if you qualify, please read on!
15 SPOTS OPEN
This round’s theme is “our kitchens”.
Our kitchens are truly the heart of our home. We gather there to eat, break bread, laugh, food fight and share good company. Your project will be based on your partner’s preferences for their kitchen. You will need to accomplish several things:
- Share your favorite recipe
- Create a miniature quilt for your partner’s kitchen
- Create a hand towel to match
By sending me an application to participate in the Holiday Booty Swap, you are accepting all the guidelines and obligations listed below. Please add The Miniature Booty Swap Blog to your readers to see updated posts.
Dates To Remember:
- Sign Ups Start: now
- Maximum Participants: 25
- Sign Ups Close: once max participants is reach or January 23th, 2009
- Partners Assigned By: a few days after closing
- Mailing Due Date: April 18, 2009
Expectations of the Quilt:
- Fabric: 100% quality cotton – pre-wash is recommended
- Size: Depends on your partner’s preference, be sure to read what they desire, no larger than 20″ x 20″/51 cm x 51 cm
- Label: Include Booty Swap Round 3, Winter 2009, Made for, Made by….or something to that effect.
- Appliqué: Raw edges are fine, but MUST be sewn.
- Other: Embellishments are perfectly fine–they must be secured.
Expectations of the Other Items:
- Kitchen Towel: Create at least one matching towel to fit with the quiltlet you have made for your partner’s kitchen. You can appliqué something to a plain towel, embroider something or sew a nice border fabric to accent a color towel….anything as long as it’s all sewn securely and matches your quiltlet.
- Recipe Card: Share your favorite recipe on a 3″ x 5″ card.
Expectations of the Package: Please use common sense.
- Mailing Preparation: Protect your items by separating them in a bag or good wrapping paper. Place your quilt into a plastic bag before putting in your mailing envelope-this gives some extra protection to your delicate item. If you wish to wrap it in festival, feel free.
- Include a Note Card with the following: Your name, your email, your blog address. Maybe also explaining why you picked your pattern and colors for the quilt (just a suggestion).
- Delivery Confirmation: This is just a suggestion, but it puts your mind at ease when sending a valuable package to someone you don’t know personally. It’s worth the extra $1.00 to do so (in the USA) and peace of mind.
Expectations of the Participant:
- COMMUNICATION: Is key. If for some unknown reason (sickness, death, unexpected life stuff) you can’t follow through, contact me immediately.
- Keep The Secret: This is a secret swap, you will not know who is sending you a quilt. Please do not contact your partner you are sending to. If you need questions answered by your partner you can email them to me and I will aid in getting them answered.
- Emails Expected For: Please send an email when you send your quilt and when you receive your quilt.
- Thank You Email: It is expected that you contact your partner when you receive your quilt. When we mail out quilts, we look forward to the response of the receiver.
- Blog Posts: Once you receive your quilt please share it in your blog and take some time to comment in your sender’s blog as well.
- Flickr Group: We have a Flickr group set up, it’s not required to join but it is fun to see quilts as they are being done. See FAQs below.
In the end, it really comes down to – think what you would enjoy receiving?
Give a little extra thought and care when you send your package.
This is a one on one swap. You make a quilt, mail it and wait for your new quilt to come to you.
The person you are sending to, is not the same person you will be receiving from.
FAQs
Miniature Verses Doll Quilt: To clarify, you can make anything up to 20″ square. Miniature means 1″ log cabin blocks or 3″ churn dash blocks. Or you can 12” block and be creative with the embellishments and borders. You have the freedom to choose however you wish to proceed. Just understand most folks will want to hang this quilt, so it really comes down to a beautiful wall quilt in the end.
Is My Partner I’m Sending To, The Same I’m Receiving From: No. The person you are sending to is not the person who is making your quilt.
Blind Swap: This is a blind swap, so please do not email or contact your partner. If you have questions specific for them, please email me and I will get you your answers.
Flickr Group: You may join our Flickr group to see quilts being done.

Here’s the questionnaire, you need to fill completely out and email to me (remove the spaces) quiltingpirate at gmail dot com subject line Booty Swap 3. Try to be very specific in your answers. If you do not answer all the questions, your partner will make assumptions of your preferences. * *Means they are required to participate.
